Anika Noni Rose is an American performer and actress. Her most well-known role is the role of Tiana Disney's first princess of African descent In The Princess and the Frog. Rose was named a Disney Legend in 2011. Rose was an Oscar-winning actor who played Lorrell in Dreamgirls. Anika Noni (born June 6, 1972) is a singer as well as an American actress. The most famous role she has played is in the role of Tiana, Disney's first African American princess from The Princess and the Frog (2009). In 2011 she was honored as a Disney Legend. Her other notable roles include her starring role as Lorrell Robinson in the Oscar-winning film Dreamgirls (2006) and for her role as her character LaVerne JUKEBOX Ganner on the Starz program Power. In addition to her acting, she is well-known for her roles played in the theater.
